Years 7–10: Building Strong Foundations

Students in Years 7–10 engage with a diverse range of texts that develop literacy, empathy, and imagination. Each year introduces new literary experiences that build analytical, creative, and expressive skills.

Highlights include:

- Year 7: Exploring stories, poetry, and Shakespeare while learning how language shapes meaning.

- Year 8: Studying myths, legends, slam poetry, and drama texts including The Merchant of Venice to understand character, theme, and context.

- Year 9: Creating short films, analysing persuasive and poetic forms, and studying Romeo and Juliet in depth.

- Year 10: Engaging in comparative studies (The Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You), analysing poetry by Owen or the Romantic poets, and exploring voice and identity in modern and diverse texts.

These years also feature a Wide Reading Program, creative writing tasks, and opportunities for collaboration and performance.
