The aim of year 7 English is to introduce students to English as a separate key learning area where students use, understand, enjoy, appreciate and reflect on how language shapes meaning in ways that are imaginative and critical. Year 7 English is an enjoyable experience and is the initial building block that prepares students with the skills to become active and independent learners who value the study of English.
Students will study a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as poetry, film and Shakespeare. They will be asked to respond in many different ways including written, spoken and visual forms, and in some tasks they will be required to use ICT to complete their work.
