Mid-Autumn Festival

Poster

Moorebank High School will be celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival on MONDAY 19/9/22 by hosting an extended lunch that will provide students with the opportunity to engage in culturally appropriate activities to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in the Chinese culture & other cultures in East & South East Asia.  The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September. On this day, the cultures who celebrate this festival believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn. Lanterns of all size and shapes, are carried and displayed symbolising beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune. Mooncakes are also traditionally eaten during Moon Festival & students & staff will have the opportunity to purchase mooncakes on the day.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear either cultural attire or red on the day.
