Year 8 Elective: Sports Medicine
This course is concerned with the specific issues of prevention, assessment, management of and recovery from sports injury and the bodies physiological response to exercise. This course contains both theory and practical components.
Students study the following:
* Body systems – skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory
* Prevention of sporting injuries
* Classification and management of sporting injuries
* DRABC & CPR
* The bodies physiological response to exercise
* FITT principle
* Energy systems
* Fitness testing and graphing results
