The Environment Committee at Moorebank High School is made up of a collection of enthusiastic students from Years 9 to 12 who have a passion for the environment and its protection.

Moorebank High School regularly participates in community endorsed activities such as Clean Up Australia Day which is run by the Environment Committee for students in Years 7 and 8. The committee also runs a successful school-wide recycling program which collects almost 30kg of paper every week. Other Committee roles include maintaining the school gardens through its weeding, watering and planting programs.

The Environment Committee has participated in the Enviro Inspiro Competition which involved the students learning about an in-school or local environmental issue and creating a DVD and accompanying paper.

Moorebank High School's Environment Committee has also endorsed the local community project ‘Save Cooper's Paddock'. Cooper's Paddock is an oasis of undisturbed land nearby which has recently been rezoned for industrial use. The paddock is home to more than 9 threatened species and a total of 63 native species.

Students in the Environment Committee, in conjunction with students from the selective stream, worked alongside the Georges River Combined Councils Committee to assist with the ‘Georges River Catchment Wide River Health Monitoring Project'.This partnership gave students the opportunity to work alongside local scientists to gather data that was published in a scientific paper at the completion of the project.
